Seville is a 2.5-hour drive from Lagos, Portugal. We enjoyed exploring this picturesque city with Trinda and Jade (our sister and brother-in-law).
We were told Seville is a city that, “rests on streets bathed in tears of kings, artists, scientists, merchants and poets”. The deep Spanish history and culture (as well as the tapas, of course) have compelled us to plan a road trip across Spain in October 2022 … more photos to follow!

The enchanting Alcazar of Seville, the oldest active royal palace in Europe, was founded in 913 AD







The Moorish-Gothic Cathedral of Seville broke ground in 1401 and was completed in 1528




The Setas de Sevilla (Mushrooms of Seville) consists of six "mushroom" parasols, completed in 2011. This building is touted as the world's largest wooden structure.

The gorgeous Plaza de Espana (Spain Square) was developed for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition World's Fair. It includes four bridges over a moat, which depict the ancient kingdoms of Spain.

Tasting Sherry during a tapas tour. We learned that authentic Sherry wine is only produced in the Sherry Triangle of Andalusia.

Iberian jamon, from the black Iberian pig that feeds on chestnuts and acorns, is considered the best ham in the world
More than 250 varieties of olives are cultivated in Spain, with almost 10% enjoyed as table olives. The other 90% are pressed and contribute to Spain being the largest olive oil producer in the world.
